While goods movement is a vital element of transportation system planning, regulation, design and operation—as well as of land use, economic development and sustainability—Canadian cities vary widely in how they plan for it. The City of Calgary recently completed a multimodal goods movement strategy that received widespread industry and political support, and is now being implemented.
